Willy Girth on Building a Condom Brand Nobody Asked For
Nobody woke up wanting another condom brand. Willy Girth™ built one anyway.
The Problem
The category hadn’t changed in decades. Same packaging, same claims, same nervous shopper in aisle seven. Willy saw a product people needed and a brand nobody wanted to be seen buying.
The Bet
Make it funny on the outside and serious on the inside. FDA-cleared, third-party tested, PFAS-free. Then put a name on it you can’t forget.
What’s Next
Where the Idea Came From
“Every condom aisle looked the same,” Willy says. “Blue boxes, serious fonts, and products that felt like an apology. I wanted something people would actually be proud to pull out of their wallet.”
Getting the Product Right First
Before there was a logo, there were prototypes. Lots of them. Willy spent the better part of two years working with manufacturers to get the latex thinner without cutting corners on strength. Every version had to pass the same strict testing as the big brands.
Why the Loud Branding
“Embarrassment is the enemy of safe sex,” he says. “If the box makes you laugh, you’re more likely to buy it, carry it, and use it.” That’s why everything RawDog does is pink, bold, and a little cheeky.
Building a Community, Not Just a Brand
From the Pumpers Club to pool parties, the goal has always been to make RawDog something people feel part of. “We’re not selling a product,” Willy says. “We’re selling the idea that taking care of yourself can be fun.”
What’s Next for RawDog
New sizes, new textures, and more retail partners are on the way. And Willy has one more promise: “We’ll never be boring.”
More sizes, more stores, and more reasons to stop hiding the box.
